Had a wife but couldn't keep her
Put her in a pumpkin shell
There he kept her very well
I've always wanted this shot and by golly... I got it. I put my child in a pumpkin and photographed it for posterity. While the process didn't go as smoothly as I expected, it was still possible to get the desired results.
It took me maybe 40 minutes to cut the top off of the pumpkin and hollow it out. It was a 32 lb. pumpkin so it was a great candidate for my growing 7 month-old.
At first she would only stand. I was impressed by how well she kept her balance.

I put a cloth at the bottom of the gourd in case it was slick or too damp for comfort.
The small studio I work in has a fair share of obstacles but luckily the space is suitable enough for an infant or toddler. The ceilings are low which is bad for background stands but good for pinning fabric. There wasn't a way to avoid including the outlet in the image, but I photoshopped it out.

She crouched in the pumpkin, but the facial expression isn't the joy I was hoping for in this shot.
Hehehehe.
The expression more so says, "Mom...(sigh) I know you're a photographer and you have to try everything, but really? Am I supposed to be enjoying myself?"

Here we go! I edited out the outlet and any irregularities in the background or foreground, and I warmed up the overall color a bit. I put this one in a nice frame-what do you think?
